Good news for Ethiopia

During September, Dr Raymond Lombard and Sakkie Bredell undertook a three day outreach to Kuyou, Selale, in Ethiopia by invitation of Pastor Hiruy Tsige, a national church leader in Ethiopia. Pastor Lombard conducted an evangelism training conference in the North. A total of 105 church leaders participated in the conference. Most of these leaders came from unreached people group (UPG) areas, as far as Kaficho (800 kms from Addis Ababa) and other far-flung areas.

After Pastor Lombard gave evangelism training on the Heart of Man chart, participants went out to the town to evangelize, using the Heart of Man charts. It happened to be a market day and the town was swelling with people from the surrounding villages.  As the participants went two by two witnessing, they were able to share the gospel with more than 800 people. The town is not friendly to the gospel and some people incited a riot, during which ten of the church leaders (eight men and two women) were detained by the police until the main leaders went and negotiated their release from prison. We thank God for the safe release of these faithful men and women of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

On the last day Pastor Lombard distributed 40 bicycles, 100 Bibles, 80 Heart of Man charts, 80 pocket-size Heart of Man charts and 300 Heart of Man booklets in Amharic and Oromo. This was a great encouragement to these pastors and evangelists in Ethiopia.

This was Wheels for God’s Word‘s second outreach to Ethiopia. Last year Wheels for God’s Word undertook an outreach to the Southern Region of Ethiopia (Awassa). We thank God for the work He is doing in Ethiopia through the ministry of Wheels for God’s Word and Word on Wheels.
